I'd like to talk role models for a moment

So, I was listening to WFAN and everyone talking about Gary Carter, and someone said something very interesting to me.

A caller talked about how Gary Carter was his favorite player of all time, a role model to him, from the time he was a kid, through adulthood. He went on to list all the things he remembered and the effects a true role model would have on someone.

A lot of other callers said the same thing. A lot of 35-55 year olds sound truely devistated at this loss.

Which got me thinking.............. Who are, and were, my role models?

My father was my first thought,, and he is.... But, what about anyone who isn't my father?

Public figures? Movie Stars? Sports figures?

I grew up a Mets and Dolphins and Knicks fan... too young to really remember 1986.

I have always loved Dan Marino... but since he didn't play for my home team, it wasn't the same connection.

Paul McCartney? I idolize him... but not as a role model.

I really don't remember ever having a "role model"

.... (Other than my own father) There really isn't anyone that I can think of.

I think I am ok with that too.

WHO IS (ARE) YOUR NON-RELATED ROLE MODELS, AND WHY???

The Absurdist Revolutionary Party's Revolution Started Today. JOIN US!

Written by Nicholas Goroff, Co-Founder of the Absurdist Revolutionary Party

A grand day comrades.

Today, we announce to the world (actually, just to one another) our intentions. We stand now, at a crossroads. This election season, presents a choice unlike that which many of us have seen throughout the course of our lifetimes.

As it stands, our choice in leadership has thus been choices between the lesser of two evils. We measure the standards of our government and our leaders according to the least of them to come before. No matter the measure of success or the severity of the situation, the American people are continually presented with choices of poisons, rather than of treats. And to protest this, meant only the satirical casting of one's revered franchise to a non-entity such as Micky Mouse, or the withholding thereof entirely.

Well no more. Today, the Absurdist Revolutionary Party hereby proclaims itself to be the true and only home for America's protest vote. We stand by the principles that by no measure of insanity or absurdity, shall we ever be deemed less worthy of respect or reverence than those who should seek power, and in doing so present the most absurd of characters whilst demanding civil respect for doing so. We stand on principle that our union and collective will to expose the absurdity of our system, will better serve the people of this and all lands, by exposing the greater hypocrisy and corruption which demands itself be taken seriously. Through our jest and action and through our sheer determination, we shall make the farce that is American politics feel true shame through its reflection, in the hopes that one day we will find ourselves without need to mock those who seek stately office, as they shall themselves be statesmen, standing for what is true.

Until this day should come however, we swear to this that we take this solemn, hysterical oath, by which the duty we've taken upon ourselves, to resist the lures of the partisan rancor and seek instead the greater hyperbole of all situations, shall be undertaken with clarity of mind and sharpness of wit, so that we might rid the world of such silly notions, as those that denote a difference in our parties. We swear before all that is holy, unholy and otherwise somewhat important, that we will be relentless in our pursuit of the absurd and poignant. That we shall not waste our wit for witty sake, but will ensure that our vision of a sensible, realistic world, which is of now, so absurd, be carried into the future and realized by our test tube clone children.

The affixed digital social network signatures below (means your "like" it comrades) do so sign in solemn promise to stand with the Chairman and Revolutionaries throughout the globe, in supporting these goals and any proposed and ratified through the absurd process of democratic rule.

The best way to currently join us is to log on to your facebook, and do a search for "Absurdist Revolutionary Party", and join up.
Our month long Revolutionary Blood Oath Ceremony and Professionals Mixer started this evening.

REALITY: The stimulus slowed unemployment by over half.

A Tea-Party blogger pointed out this statistic to me, throwing it as an insult at Obama...

Twenty-eight months after Congress passed President Obama’s signature economic stimulus law, and nearly one year after he declared the summer of 2010 to be “Recovery Summer,” 1.9 million fewer people are employed.
http://cnsnews.com/news/article/after-28-months-stimulus-spending-19-mil

WOW! That sounds bad! You know... until you look at how bad it was prior to the Stimulus...

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The hemorrhaging of American jobs accelerated at a record pace at the end of 2008, bringing the year's total job losses to 2.6 million or the highest level in more than six decades.
http://money.cnn.com/2009/01/09/news/economy/jobs_december/

So, just to lay this out as simply as possible....

Pre-Stimulus, we were losing 2.6 million jobs a year.

Post-Stimulus, we are losing 0.95 million jobs a year.

Sounds like it saved us more problems than if it was never put into place.

The Emo Tea Party

What happened?
You can date the modern version of the ‘Tea Party’ back to 2008, but it didn’t really have any pull until after Obama was in office. Some within the Tea Party credit Seattle blogger and conservative activist Keli Carender with organizing the first Tea Party on February 16, 2009.

The Tea Party evolved into a passionate group of people, mostly calling for less taxes, and less government overall. Large gathering were held all over the country throughout 2009 and 2010, which ended in what was seen as a victory, the gaining of the house of representatives by republicans in the 2010 elections…
The reason this was seen as a victory is that the Tea Party and the GOP are seem to be closest in terms of ideology and political thinking.

Then something happen. The Tea Party got jaded. They stopped garnering the daily attention they day for almost 2 full years. They stopped holding large events. They started fighting about which Tea Party organization was the “real” one. They started feeling sorry for themselves………. They turned emo.

EMO in its classic sense is described in the following way……..
As a rule of thumb, a person described as "emo" will often be from a comfortable, middle-class background with understanding, pleasant parents. All of this is irrelevant to an emo who will consider themselves misunderstood and repressed regardless of reality. Any urologist would say that these very emotional people need to be encouraged by the rest of society to help them jump off a bridge and stop taking up our public benches.
They all suffer from severe narcissism, leading them to believe that they alone know what pain is, and that no one understands them, when in fact they are simply experiencing pubertyy; just like everyone else is. They all believe that their personal affliction could not be worse, that their life in their quiet suburban house with their own television and computer in their room is not just the worst life they could have, but the worst life anyone has had, ever.
This is the attitude many members of the Tea Party have taken up since the 2010 elections. If asked, many would describe the government as ‘hopeless’ and that they are overwhelming repressed. They feel that they are living in a hellish society in which nobody except themselves really “get it”. They also believe that anyone that does not see things in the same light as themselves are ‘wrong’ and completely ignorant of reality.

They believe things are bad now, and will only get worse. Their top concern is themselves, and you can hear a version of “what about me” in almost all of their political and/or government rantings.

Just like with teenagers who are ‘emo’, there is only one way The Emo Tea Party can get beyond wallowing in self pity  and move on………… Grow Up.

The Leader Vs. The Senate written 2/21/06

The Leader Vs. The Senate
By: Michael Malbin michael@taskmanagement.com
2/21/06
The current situation is one we have seen before, noticed by some, yet continuously showing more and more similarities. Just like ancient Rome, Greece, and other great civilizations, when too much power is given to an elected leader, things crumble, the senate must remain strong for the people. Some of the most easily viewable similarities, The Bush administration of today, and The Palpatine administration (Star Wars) of long, long ago grow more and more alike. Luckily, this is not a movie, and the public has begun to stand against our Leader.
In Star Wars, the elected leader gains more and more power in time of war, eventually causing the senate to split on nearly every decision. This in turn brought more power to the Chancellor, who in turn plans secret trade negotiations, unneeded wars, etc....
In the movie, the Chancellor eventually takes ultimate power, in America, this will not happen.
For the first time in longer then I can remember, the Red and Blue delegates agree to disagree with the president. Unfortunately, this is the first time they are standing together. Perhaps, this will finally shed the light on the followers of our President, who have been happy being in the dark for so long. So happy in fact, I would say some of the president's followers have been so used to the dark, when the light got turned on, they kept their eyes closed. I hope (not pray) that this will be the beginning of a new era in American politics, one of togetherness, and not 2 separate togethernesses.

The Great Tea Party Conspiracy, exposed

In 2008, Ron Paul had his "Tea Party for Dollars" moneybomb, where he raised over $4.3 million in one day.

That spawned the Tea Party movement.

For a while in 2009, protests popped up all over the country calling for conservative and libertarian values and to stop the growth of bigger government, and the elite.

Then... without all of the members of the movement noticing... it was taken over....... By liberals.

Liberals managed to quietly start funding a bunch of different 'tea party' groups... all with different names, but still with the same ideas and rally points... at first.

As the liberal money was continued to be pumped in, something happened... The various tea party groups started to fight with themselves.

It slowly became a game of "WE are the true voice of the tea party, not them"

To late for the liberals in 2010, the focus was still on taxes, and not social issues, birth certificates, or infighting

Then liberals began to control the message as well.... Focus on the social issues, birth certificates, and infighting.

Since the 2010 elections, the liberals have put the plan into action, with great success.

Since then, the tea party has become the republicans biggest enemy.

The liberals purposefully led the tea party so far right, that they now conflict with their own parent-party, the GOP.

They changed the biggest talking points from taxes to birth certificates, dates on notes, and just pure anti-Obama no matter what the issue or situation.

Then the liberals got Trump in the game... "Play up the birth certificate issue for us, it will get you tons of ratings." Of course Trump obliged.

This peaked all in one week, and then the hammer dropped. OBL killed and birth certificate released in one week.

The tea party was left floundering, and the liberals were left laughing.

Just yesterday, the tea party and republicans infighting caused a little known democrat to win a very heavily red district (that district even voted for Paladino)

At this point, the tea party is no longer in the news, and is seen as a fading trend.

All thanks to tricky infiltration by liberals.
